Pedal Straps

I have been riding bikes for the better part of my life. I think I learned at age 7 when Matthew Chiorinni helped me to figure out the balance.

I think I learned very quickly when I got more competitive on the bike that the contact points on the bike like the pedals, the grips and saddles are really important and very personal.

Ive only toured with clip less pedals in the past but that always made for one really annoying fact; I would then have 3 pairs of shoes with me. Clip less, tennis shoes and sandals. I consider sandals to be imperative and sneakers as well.

The clip less shoes and pedals will be forgone on our upcoming trip and I have elected to tour on what I ride in the city. Odyssey BMX pedals. BMX pedals with straps. Im still uncertain on the shoes I will ride in but the pedal and strap are settled.

I have designed my own pedal strap prototype out of 2 inch webbing and velcro with a few buckles bought at a local camping shop. They have worked well and I am now testing a second generation. These are very similar to other pedal straps on the market but mine simply are the best because, well, I made them myself. Webbing, velcro, buckles and a sewing machine. I like the design.

I will post some sort of a review later.
